Carl Gandolfo Photography bio picture
  • Welcome to my blogsite!

Hi!! My name is Carl Gandolfo, I love photography and this is my blogsite! I will use this blogsite to keep you up to date with my latest work. I'll also take you along on some recent travels. But most of all, I'll use my blogsite to feature my most treasured asset - you, the client!

I am located in Lithia, FL - an eastern suburb of Tampa. A transplant of Long Island, NY, I have been a resident of the Tampa area since 1991. I have been shooting professionally since 1995. My travels and love for photography have taken me to a number of places in the world, with my favorite being the Jackson Hole/Yellowstone area of Wyoming. Some of my work has been featured on MSNBC, as well as in a Tampa Bay Chamber of Commerce publication - "The Treasures of Tampa Bay".

I specialize in high school senior photography, as well as photographing children and families. My studio is the great outdoors, although I will come to your home and create your portrait there. I love exploring the greater Tampa Bay area for new shooting locations. Some of my favorites are Ybor City, downtown Tampa and all along any of the beautiful miles of our Gulf Coast beaches.

My work can be seen in the "Galleries" section of the above menu. Included in my portfolio is a selection of "fine art" landscape pieces, including images from Grand Teton National Park, Yellowstone, Bryce Canyon, Zion National Park and a number of other locations. I've also included some wildlife images, captured through my travels - all of which are available for purchase as fine art prints. Please feel free to explore all parts of my portfolio.

I understand you have your choice of portrait photographers. But I truly feel what separates myself from others in the industry is my dedication to service, as well as a desire to provide you with a product that will serve you and your family proud for years to come. I do hope that you allow me to become your photographer of choice.

California Sierras and Death Valley National Park – March 2013

I recently returned from a whirlwind trip through California, starting in Bishop (at the foot of the Sierras) and traveling as far south, and east, as Death Valley.  I was a participant in a Marc Adamus photography workshop (www.marcadamus.com), along with my best bud, Mark Sisco.  Marc Adamus has long been a photographer I’ve *SO* admired, not only for his body of work but also his vision for the art of landscape photography.  It was a long and tiring trip (1,600+ miles of driving over just 6 days) but one I’ll never forget, especially our trips, and overnight camping, thru Death Valley.  Here are a few of the images I’ve been able to work on since returning.  Enjoy.

Beautiful Ally

I had the pleasure of shooting this beautiful girl’s portraits on Saturday, 12/15.  She is a very energetic four year old (aren’t they all?) and so full of life.

I spent most of the day Friday, 12/14, deeply saddened over the events at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, CT.  Spending just a couple of hours around Ally helped put a smile on my face, which I really needed after Friday.  Thank you Yahayra for allowing me to spend a couple of hours with your precious little girl!!

Ground Zero – Rising From The Ashes

I recently paid a much needed visit to Long Island to see my folks.  It has been a long time for me since I was last there so my time with them was wonderful!!

I took a day and travelled into NYC to pay a visit to the 9/11 Memorial, my old stomping grounds when I worked in NYC.  It was such a surreal visit for me, bringing back many pleasant memories of my time there.  Of course, it looked so different from my last visit there a number of years ago.  The folks in charge of rebuilding these hallowed grounds did a wonderful job.

I spent a good part of my time there just reflecting on the moments of that horrific September day.  God rest their souls and let’s not EVER forget!!

Oregon 2012

Had the great pleasure of touring much of Oregon the past two weeks.  I first started the trip by spending 5 days in the Columbia River Gorge, some 30 miles east of Portland, shooting many of the wonderful waterfalls in the area.  I then traveled west to the Oregon coast for a couple of days on Cannon Beach, then south along the coast to Cape Kiwanda.  On this leg of the trip, I was accompanied by my best bud, Mark Sisco.  It was followed by a solo trip thru the Oregon Cascades for another eight days.

Here a few images from the trip.
